Reasons and Solutions for the Blockage of Screw Conveyors
The screw conveyor consists of a screw shell, a screw, a driving part and a bracket. The screw conveyor can transport particles, powders and small pieces, etc. The conveying methods include horizontal conveying, inclined conveying, vertical conveying and other conveying methods, and the conveying distance ranges from two meters to seventy meters.
Blocking is one of the most common types if prone to failure or improper maintenance. Why do blockages occur? How to solve the blockage problem? Here are the reasons and measures:
1、The operator did not operate in strict accordance with the operating specifications
When the operator starts the screw conveyor, the no-load feed should be uniform. The conveyor must be stopped at no-load, and no-load operation is not allowed to ensure that the vibrating feeder can also be installed evenly. During the feeding process, if the material is suddenly fed, it is easy to block the material and increase the wear of the conveyor. Therefore, the feeding process is gradually increased, gradually reaching the rated delivery volume.
2、When the screw conveyor conveys materials, there must be impurities in the machine
If the necessary cleaning is not carried out, residual large or fibrous impurities may cause blockages. Therefore, in order to reduce the occurrence of blockage, the internal cleaning of the machine should be carried out when conveying materials.
3、The problem of blockage caused by improper bearing design
In order to reduce the occurrence of blockage failure, the screw conveyor should minimize the lateral dimension of the suspension bearing.
Materials need to be selected and shipped for matching.On the one hand,it can also add material level locator and clogging sensor to realize automatic control and alarm;On the other hand, increase the discharge port or lengthen the groove tail, which can effectively solve the problem of poor discharge. If a tubular screw conveyor is used, a valve can be installed at the discharge end. Once the door is blocked, the door can be opened to clear the material.
